What Is the Story and World of Harold Halibut?
Set aboard the FEDORA I, a city-sized ark spaceship submerged in an alien ocean, Harold Halibut follows a retro-futuristic society preserving humanity after fleeing Earth 250 years ago during the height of the Cold War.
Players control Harold, a young, soft-spoken lab assistant working under lead scientist Jeanne Mareaux. While most citizens have adapted to life inside the submerged metal vessel, Mareaux works relentlessly to engineer a way to relaunch the ship and discover a dry, habitable planet. Harold’s daily chores and conversations with the eccentric residents of FEDORA I are turned upside down when a strange alien encounter plunges him into a hidden world that holds the key to the ship’s relaunch plans.
How Was Harold Halibut Created by Slow Bros.?
What sets Harold Halibut apart from traditional digital adventure games is its physical construction:
- Physical Sculpting: Every character, prop, and environment was sculpted by hand in Cologne, Germany, using physical materials including clay, wood, metal welding, and fabric clothing.
- 3D Photogrammetry: Sets and characters were digitized using photogrammetry, preserving real surface textures, fingerprints, and tactile detail.
- Full Voice Acting: Features full cinematic voice performances in English and German, paired with dynamic camera direction that mirrors feature length animation.
Console gamers can pre-order Harold Halibut on the Nintendo eShop or play today on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles ahead of the November 12 launch.
