What is Halloween: The Game?
For fans of asymmetrical horror, the pairing of IllFonic and Gun Interactive is a dream scenario. These are the creative teams behind genre classics like Friday the 13th: The Game and Predator: Hunting Grounds.
With Halloween: The Game, they are crafting a highly authentic, Unreal Engine 5 fueled tribute to John Carpenter’s original 1978 film. The gameplay is split into single-player and multiplayer modes:
- The Multiplayer Mode: A tense, 1v4 asymmetrical showdown. One player takes on the role of the ultimate slasher, Michael Myers, stalking victims from the darkness. The other four players control everyday Haddonfield civilians trying to secure weapons, guide innocent neighbors to safety, and alert the police before time runs out.
- The Single-Player Mode: A narrative campaign played entirely from Michael’s perspective. Gamers will experience the iconic events of that fateful 1978 night, learning the mechanics of the game while exploring the mythology of the Boogeyman.
Which iconic movie maps are included in the game?
To ensure maximum cinematic accuracy, the development team worked directly with series executive producer Malek Akkad and filmmaker John Carpenter himself.
One of the most exciting additions is the Orange Grove Estates map, which recreates the affluent neighborhood of Haddonfield. This zone houses two of the most iconic locations from the 1978 movie: the Wallace and Doyle residences.
Malek Akkad, President of Compass International Pictures, expressed his excitement for the launch:
We are thrilled for fans of the original film to see Wallace and Doyle’s iconic houses in this new map. Players will be able to explore the legendary homes and create their own survival tactics. Will they be able to dodge picturesque gardens, bushes, and playground equipment while struggling to outwit the Boogeyman, or will they become the Boogeyman themselves?
Whether you plan to play digitally on the Steam Store or queue up for a physical copy on PlayStation and Xbox, Haddonfield awaits you this October.
