Media conglomerate Kadokawa has officially released the first teaser promotional video and key staff announcements for the television anime adaptation of Ayune Araragi’s popular romantic comedy manga, Isshiki-san Wants to Know About Love (Isshiki-san wa Koi o Shiritai). Animation production will be handled by Sakura Create (Glamorous Heroes), with the series scheduled to make its global broadcast debut in January 2027. Featuring an opening theme performed by popular cosplayer and voice actress Enako, the series centers on an elite police officer and a clumsy detective navigating their first real taste of romance through an unorthodox fake-dating arrangement.

What Is the Plot and Premise of Isshiki-san Wants to Know About Love?

Originally launched by Ayune Araragi in Kadokawa’s Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine in June 2020, Isshiki-san Wants to Know About Love puts a humorous workplace spin on classic romantic comedy tropes.

• The Elite Inspector: Rinna Milford Isshiki is a prodigy police officer who joined the force at just 17 years old. Despite her serious demeanor and high respect among colleagues, she has zero real-world experience with romantic love.
• The Clumsy Partner: Her coworker, Meishi Rokutanda, is a kind-hearted but dim-witted and somewhat incompetent detective whose presence consistently causes Rinna to lose her composure and slip up on duty.
• The Pseudo-Dating Scheme: Unable to understand why her heart flutters around Meishi, the straight-laced Rinna proposes a solution: the two beginners in love will enter a pseudo-couple relationship to scientifically study and figure out romance.
