The story is set within a society where a popular social game called The Magical Girl Raising Project grants one in ten thousand players the opportunity to become a real-world magical girl. These chosen individuals receive extraordinary physical abilities, specialized magic powers, and a duty to assist their communities.

However, the premise quickly turns sinister when game administrators announce that magical energy reserves are depleted, requiring the magical girl population in a given sector to be cut in half. What begins as an innocent competition to collect “Magical Candies” by performing good deeds rapidly degrades into a ruthless survival battle royale.

In the Restart storyline, sixteen newly selected magical girls are drawn into an artificial RPG simulation via their smartphones. Promised a ten billion yen grand prize for beating the game, the participants soon discover that losing all hit points in the simulation results in real-world death, sparking betrayal, secret alliances, and intense psychological warfare.
