What is the opening theme song for Suikoden: The Anime?
The new promotional trailer confirmed that the acclaimed Japanese rock band amazarashi is performing the official opening theme song.
Known for their emotionally raw, poetic lyricism, the band has composed a brand-new track titled “Kanashimi Sae Otonabite” (Even in Sadness I will Look Like an Adult). The melancholic yet driving rock sound perfectly matches the tragic themes of political betrayal, lost innocence, and the heavy burdens of leadership that define the story of Suikoden II.

What is the story of Suikoden II?
The narrative of Suikoden II is widely regarded by gaming historians as one of the finest stories ever told in the medium.
It centers on Riliu and his childhood best friend Jowy, who serve as young recruits in the elite Unicorn Youth Brigade of the Highland Kingdom. While a peace treaty has temporarily halted generations of bloody border wars between Highland and the independent City-States of Jowston, the fragile peace is shattered by a ruthless, shocking act of betrayal orchestrated from within.
Sucked into a brutal conflict, the two boys are chosen by destiny to inherit the opposing halves of the legendary Rune of the Beginning, one of the world’s highly coveted True Runes. As the flames of war sweep the land, Riliu and Jowy are forced down radically different paths, turning lifelong brothers-in-arms into tragic rivals on opposite sides of a continent-defining war.
To build a force capable of standing against the terrifying military might of Prince Luca Blight, Riliu must travel the world to recruit the legendary 108 Stars of Destiny a roster of soldiers, tacticians, wizards, and warriors.
Originally launched by Konami for the original PlayStation in 1995, followed by the groundbreaking sequel in 1998, the beloved series spans five mainline entries and five distinct spinoffs.
