When Is the Free Update for Super Bomberman Collection Releasing?
The free digital update for Super Bomberman Collection is scheduled to launch worldwide on August 20, 2026.
This update arrives just five days before the highly anticipated physical editions of the game launch on retail shelves on August 25, 2026. The physical release, produced in partnership with Red Art Games, will be available for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5. Because the free update drops prior to the cartridge and disc release, physical owners will be able to download the patch on day one to claim their free copy of the eighth game.
What Games Are Included in Super Bomberman Collection?
With the arrival of the August update, the collection will officially feature eight retro Bomberman titles:
- Super Bomberman (Originally released in 1993 for SNES)
- Super Bomberman 2 (Originally released in 1994 for SNES)
- Super Bomberman 3 (Originally released in 1995 for SNES)
- Super Bomberman 4 (Originally localized in English for the first time in this collection)
- Super Bomberman 5 (Originally localized in English for the first time in this collection)
- Bomberman (The classic 1985 NES/Famicom debut)
- Bomberman II (The 1991 NES/Famicom sequel that introduced multiplayer battles)
- Super Bomberman: Panic Bomber W (The 1995 SNES puzzle spin-off added in the free update)
In addition to these games, the package is loaded with excellent quality-of-life upgrades. Players have access to a custom Boss Rush Mode, instant save and load states, a handy rewind feature, screen scaling filters, original instruction manuals, and “BOMB Radio” to listen to the soundtracks.
What Is Super Bomberman: Panic Bomber W?
Unlike the core maze-running, bomb-laying action of the mainline series, Super Bomberman: Panic Bomber W is an addictive falling-block puzzle game.
The mechanics will feel immediately familiar to fans of Tetris or Puyo Puyo. Players must group falling Bomberman heads of matching colors together. Aligning three or more of the same color clears them from your board and generates bombs on your screen. By triggering clever combos, you can ignite massive chain explosions that drop garbage blocks onto your opponent’s play area, aiming to fill their screen to the top to claim victory. It is a fast-paced, highly competitive puzzle classic that makes the perfect addition to this ultimate party package.
