Hit Webtoon The Boxer Gets Official Anime Adaptation From Crunchyroll

Streaming platform Crunchyroll has officially confirmed that JH’s acclaimed sports drama webtoon The Boxer is receiving a anime television series adaptation. Revealed with an official teaser trailer during Crunchyroll’s showcase panel at New York Comic Con 2026, the international co-production brings together newly established Japanese studio breccia and South Korea’s Studio JEMI. The upcoming series will stream exclusively on Crunchyroll worldwide outside of Asia.

Originally published between 2019 and 2022 on NAVER Webtoon, JH’s The Boxer has accumulated over 1 billion views globally, earning universal praise for its psychological depth and visceral combat art.

The narrative follows K, a legendary boxing coach who travels the world searching for a final prodigy to mold into a world champion. His search ends when he witnesses an alarming scene: Yu, an emotionless, bullied teenager who stands completely still while being beaten up. Beneath Yu’s flat demeanor, Coach K recognizes flawless precision, inhuman reflexes, and incredible perception. However, when K attempts to recruit him, the young man asks a single disturbing question: “Is it any fun? Hitting people… Is it fun?”
