Renowned developer FromSoftware and co-publisher Nintendo have officially announced that their upcoming multiplayer action title, The Duskbloods, has been pushed back from its original late 2026 launch window to an unannounced date in 2027. Directed by Elden Ring and Dark Souls mastermind Hidetaka Miyazaki, the high-stakes PvPvE experience is being built as an exclusive title for the Nintendo Switch 2. In an official statement, FromSoftware clarified that while the project has reached the final adjustment stage, extra time is needed to polish core mechanics, balance competitive systems, and refine player expression following global playtest feedback.

Why Did FromSoftware Postpone The Duskbloods Launch to 2027?
While development is entering its final stages, FromSoftware chose to extend production to refine the title’s overarching game loop and character balancing.
According to FromSoftware’s public statement, participant engagement during recent global network playtests showcased high interest in combat mechanics, strategic depth, and customization systems. However, to meet the studio’s high quality standards, the team determined that additional fine-tuning of character roles, match rules, and dynamic battle events was required before launching on Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.
What Are the Core Gameplay Features of The Duskbloods on Nintendo Switch 2?
Set during an apocalyptic event known as the “Twilight of Humanity,” The Duskbloods transports players to atmospheric Gothic and Victorian environments where supernatural warriors called the Bloodsworn fight for supremacy.
Key Gameplay Systems:
- Hybrid PvPvE Matches: Up to eight players deploy into expansive arenas filled with dangerous AI-controlled monsters and rival player groups, forcing participants to navigate transient alliances and sudden betrayals.
- Bloodsworn Customization: Over a dozen distinct vampire-like characters can be tailored using a unique “blood history and fate” system, adjusting stat attributes, appearance, and specific match responsibilities such as rival elimination or ally protection.
- Dynamic Event Encounters: Matches incorporate fluctuating environmental events, summoning secondary boss monsters and altering victory conditions beyond simple last-player-standing formats.
- Nintendo Switch 2 Optimization: Originally conceived for the original Switch hardware, development shifted directly to the Nintendo Switch 2 to leverage expanded online architecture and complex physical simulation systems.
