What Was the Legacy and Story of Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War?
Set chronologically between The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II and Trails of Cold Steel III, the game placed players in the boots of Lavian “Lavi” Winslet, a young soldier serving in the Northern Jaegers mercenary corps.
The game combined tactical grid movement with Nihon Falcom’s signature Orbment customization system, allowing players to tailor character skills using Master Quartz while collecting fan-favorite heroes from across the entire Trails franchise. Despite featuring a distinct storyline supervised to connect directly into the wider Zemurian continent history, player retention steadily dropped following its global debut.
While the mobile servers are closing down permanently, fans seeking to experience the mainline story can explore the main console and PC releases, including The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak, available on Steam and the PlayStation Store.
