What Is the Plot of Lunarium?
The emotional core of the narrative centers on two young women, Ave, a dedicated knight, and Lune, a mysterious, flaxen-haired star traveler known as a Starfarer. Together, they embark on a crucial pilgrimage to salvage a rapidly decaying universe.
The setting is built on a fascinating cosmic concept: kingdoms emerge like delicate bubbles from a vast, turbulent Sea of Chaos. These bubbles slowly ascend toward a distant, protective Veil of Stars. However, they are fundamentally doomed to burst, creating an endless, tragic loop of cosmic rebirth and utter destruction.
Ave and Lune must venture across these fragile bubble realms to retrieve the lost brilliance of the dying stars and reconstruct forgotten memories. In doing so, players will gradually untangle deep, personal secrets connected to the true origins of both heroines. The story promises heavy narrative depth, culminating in two entirely distinct endings that rest on the choices made throughout the adventure.
What Is the Gameplay and Combat Style of Lunarium?
Unlike many traditional isometric RPGs that depend heavily on statistics and numerical progression, Lunarium builds its combat loop around physical precision, timing, and active reaction.
- The Blade (Ave): Players control Ave to lead close-quarters combat. Her defense is built entirely on reactive execution, requiring players to neutralize incoming threats using perfectly timed parries and agile dodges to set up powerful counter-attacks.
- The Magic (Lune): Lune fights alongside Ave as a strategic spellcaster. During active combat, players accumulate Resonance Points to weaken targets and unleash devastating cooperative attacks between the two heroines. Outside of combat encounters, Lune utilizes her magic to solve puzzles and clear physical obstacles blocking exploration paths.
This core flow is supported by a variety of customizable progression systems. Players can gather rare materials in the wild to upgrade their weapons and unlock talent points on specialized skill trees for both characters.
Furthermore, players can customize their combat styles using Embroideries, which act as equipable passive charms. Any gear refinement and crafting takes place at the Temple, a sacred sanctuary that serves as a safe haven of rest and recovery between hostile territories.
What Environments Can Players Explore in Lunarium?
The visual aesthetic of the game is its defining calling card. Every environment, character, and creature is meticulously illustrated in a fully hand-painted art style.
The developers have confirmed several highly distinct, moody areas to traverse, including a forgotten forest, a crumbling dilapidated castle featuring complex vertical geometry, and a dreamlike archipelago that bridges the real world and a surreal dreamscape.
As players explore these hand-drawn vistas, they will confront corrupted wildlife, ancient stone golems, and massive screen-filling bosses. These taxing encounters are designed to echo the game’s more introspective themes of identity, memory, and purpose, which are further elevated by an original, highly atmospheric soundtrack.
Currently, the developers have only confirmed a PC release for the game, with no announcements regarding future console ports. Action RPG fans can secure their copy directly on the Steam Store Page starting July 29.
