Fate/strange Fake Season 2 Officially Confirmed by Aniplex With New Teaser Visual

Aniplex has officially confirmed during its industry panel at Anime NYC that Fate/strange Fake is returning for a second season. The announcement came alongside a brand-new promotional trailer and a teaser visual carrying the bold tagline, “Rise Against the Rules”.

Animated by prestigious studio A-1 Pictures, the TV series adapts the wildly popular light novel spinoff written by Ryōgo Narita (Durarara!!, Baccano!). The narrative shifts the legendary battle for the wish-granting artifact out of Japan and drops it directly into the heart of Snowfield, USA. What Is the Origin of Fate/strange Fake?

Fate/strange Fake boasts one of the most unique origins in anime history. Long before it became a full-blown animated spectacle, the narrative began as an April Fool’s Day prank in April 2008. Author Ryōgo Narita published a fake text prologue on his personal blog, pitching it as a concept for an imaginary role-playing game.

Though Narita took the post down right after April Fool’s Day ended, interest from TYPE-MOON fans remained massive. The draft was republished in an issue of TYPE-MOON Ace magazine in 2009. By 2014, the story received an official light novel and manga serialization.

The concept made its on-screen debut in July 2023 with the standalone special Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn-, produced by A-1 Pictures. Following positive fan reaction, Aniplex announced a full TV anime adaptation, which screened early preview episodes in December 2024 before launching its full television broadcast on January 3, 2026.
