Independent developer Death Kumiai (デス組合) and co-publisher Flashlight Games have officially confirmed that their story-driven roguelite RPG, Annihilated, will release digitally for PC via Steam on November 10, 2026. Blending turn-based card combat with a psychological horror atmosphere and hand-drawn artwork, the title presents a grim rescue mission where players must explore a cursed labyrinth to save one member of a fallen heroic party. However, a tragic catch governs the entire journey: only a single hero can return alive from the depths.
What Is the Story of Annihilated?
In Annihilated, you play as the sole survivor of an elite rescue squad dispatched to locate a legendary party of heroes who disappeared deep inside a cursed dungeon. Upon reaching the party, you discover that the dungeon’s ancient forces have completely broken each member physically, mentally, or spiritually.
Without any personal combat power, your survival hinges entirely on forming a bond with one of these fallen figures and utilizing their remaining strength to fight your way back to the surface.
Because you can only carry one partner out alive, the game splits into four distinct story routes totaling over 200,000 words of branching narrative. Each route unravels the mystery behind the tragedy that destroyed the original party and reveals the true origin of the dungeon’s lingering curse.
How Does Card Combat and Weapon Stealing Work in Annihilated?
combat in Annihilated centers on turn-based card battles where every item and weapon carried acts as a temporary ability card. Enemy actions are displayed ahead of time, allowing players to calculate defensive plays alongside their companion’s unique abilities.
- Fatal Strikes and Gear Theft: Every weapon grows significantly more powerful on its final hit. Staggering an enemy and landing a weapon’s final use triggers a Fatal Strike, instantly executing the foe while stealing their equipment for your inventory.
- Curse System: Intentionally breaking weapons leaves behind Curses. Players can spend accumulated Curses to rewrite unlucky dice rolls, craft essential gear, or gain experience points.
- Dual Battle Modes: The game offers two distinct combat styles, letting players choose between a timing-based input system or a classic probability-based tactical system.
Players interested in exploring this dark deckbuilding RPG can add the game to their wishlist on Steam ahead of its official November 10 launch.
