Code Vein II Mask of Idris Expansion Details
What Is the Story of Code Vein II Mask of Idris?
Rather than continuing the main campaign directly, Mask of Idris introduces a standalone narrative centered on a shattered pocket realm called the Abandoned World (also known as the Forsaken World). This unstable region formed from residual fragments of erased timelines and collapsed realities.
At the epicenter of this realm lies the Pathos Spindle, an entity that draws in raw emotional energy across time and space. As the Spindle expands, its influence threatens to spill over and destroy the primary reality. Players must venture into this distorted landscape to sever the Spindle’s pull before the remaining timelines unravel completely.
How Do You Access the Mask of Idris DLC Content?
To trigger the Mask of Idris expansion storyline, players must satisfy two specific prerequisites within their main campaign save file:
- Reach and complete the Luna Fraterna main narrative ending.
- Fully finish the side quest Valentin’s Request.
Once these conditions are fulfilled, the entrance to the Abandoned World opens automatically, allowing players to begin the expansion campaign.
Who Are the New Partners in Code Vein II Mask of Idris?
Two companion characters join your party during the expansion, each offering unique combat benefits and narrative hooks:
- Liv Voda: The younger half-sister of Valentin Voda and former guardian of the Temporal Rift. After abandoning her post out of sheer boredom, she returns to action with a fiery, aggressive personality. Her hair and eyes glow with intensity whenever her emotions flare in battle. In combat, she wields a halberd for sweeping melee pressure. Her unique passive increases enemy stagger vulnerability against physical weapon strikes, while her support ability boosts raw attack power for both herself and the protagonist.
- Lou MagMell: A distinct parallel version of the companion from the base game. Having suffered a separate personal tragedy in her own collapsed timeline, this version of Lou arrives in the Abandoned World determined to halt its expansion. Her past unfolds gradually throughout the DLC storyline.
What New Weapons and Formae Are Coming in the DLC?
The expansion expands player customization with additional weaponry and combat abilities known as Formae:
- Grave Knocker: A martial arts Formae usable across all weapon types. It executes an aerial kick that releases a wide shockwave upon activation to stagger surrounding enemies, followed by a secondary impact wave upon landing to clear crowds.
- Sword of Karma: A specialized skill that summons a massive greatsword engulfed in the flames of Pathos. It enables extended combo chains with high hit counts, finishing with a long-range flame projectile strike.
What Is Included in the Free Code Vein II Update?
Releasing on the same day as the paid DLC, the Version 2.0.0 free update applies to all base game owners regardless of DLC purchase. The patch introduces core game balancing, quality-of-life improvements, and expanded post-game exploration features when traveling alongside companion characters. Full patch notes for the free update will be published by Bandai Namco closer to the September 9 launch date.
