What is the plot of Devils’ Crest?
Set in the near-future year of 2031, the story follows a sixth-grade elementary school student named Yuma Ashihara. Yuma is selected as one of the fortunate beta testers for “Actual Magic,” the world’s very first full-immersion virtual reality MMORPG (VRMMORPG). When he logs in, he is spellbound by the sheer realism and beauty of the fantasy realm.
However, things take a terrifying turn when the boundaries of the digital space collapse. Upon attempting to log out, Yuma loses consciousness and wakes up in a reality where the video game world has violently merged with the real world. The horrifying consequences are felt immediately: his classmate Sumika Watamaki, formerly one of the most popular girls in class, transforms before his eyes into a grotesque, hostile game monster. To survive, Yuma and his twin sister Sawa must quickly navigate a deadly game of mixed reality where dying in the virtual world means dying in real life.
