Papergames Wins Major Lawsuit Against Leaker Who Shared Unreleased Infinity Nikki Content
Papergames wins a court case against an Infinity Nikki leaker ordered to pay 1 million yuan! Get details on the lawsuit and NDA breach.

Gacha developer Papergames and international publisher Infold Games have scored a major legal victory after a court ordered a contractor to pay 1 million yuan (approximately $150,000 USD) for leaking unreleased content from Infinity Nikki. In an official statement published across Chinese social channels by Papergames’ legal department, the court ruled that the unauthorized distribution of internal screenshots and assets directly violated trade secrets and disrupted the game’s marketing pipeline. Infinity Nikki, the open-world dress-up adventure built on Unreal Engine 5, originally launched on December 5, 2024, across PlayStation 5, PC, iOS, and Android, surpassing 10 million downloads in its first four days on the market.
How Did the Infinity Nikki Content Leak Occur?
According to court filings released by Papergames, the defendant, identified in legal records as Zhao, was not a direct full-time employee of Papergames. Instead, Zhao was placed on the project through a partner vendor company. Despite signing binding non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) and receiving strict confidentiality warnings, Zhao systematically accessed confidential game files that fell outside his assigned work duties.
Zhao repeatedly extracted high-resolution screenshots and text details regarding upcoming outfits and promotional content. These files were shared with third parties, resulting in widespread distribution on social media platforms prior to official reveals. Papergames argued in court that premature exposure harmed the studio’s competitive edge and damaged player expectations, as early, unpolished concept designs led to community backlash when final releases differed from early leaked footage.
What Does the Legal Ruling Mean for Future Infinity Nikki Updates?
The court ruled entirely in favor of Papergames, declaring Zhao’s actions a direct infringement of trade secrets and a breach of contract. Beyond the 1 million yuan financial penalty, the court issued an immediate injunction forcing Zhao to destroy all retained game assets and cease further communications regarding unreleased content.
The verdict has ignited debate across the Infinity Nikki community. While many players defend the studio’s right to protect its intellectual property and enforce legally binding NDAs, others argue that Papergames’ secretive marketing approach creates a void that leakers fill. Fans have repeatedly requested clearer update roadmaps and transparent developer communications from Infold Games to set realistic expectations for upcoming banners and outfits.
