Publisher Atlus and development team Studio Zero have officially released a free downloadable Prologue Demo for critically acclaimed fantasy RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio on Nintendo Switch 2. Designed as a substantial preview experience, the demo allows hybrid console gamers to play through the opening chapters of the high fantasy campaign ahead of the full platform launch on November 12, 2026. Crucially, all progress, character levels, unlocked gear, and story milestones achieved within the demo will carry over directly into the full Nintendo Switch 2 release.
What Content Is Playable in the Metaphor: ReFantazio Switch 2 Prologue Demo?
Crafted by key creative directors behind Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5—including director Katsura Hashino, character designer Shigenori Soejima, and composer Shoji Meguro—Metaphor: ReFantazio delivers an expansive fantasy universe. The Switch 2 Prologue Demo provides a generous slice of early-game content:
- Dungeon Crawling: Explore the first four dungeons of the United Kingdom of Euchronia.
- Archetype Customization: Unlock seven of the game’s 40+ Archetypes, allowing for deep class customization, job swapping, and skill combination experimentation.
- Follower Social Links: Meet six primary Followers, experiencing early social bond interactions that boost combat virtues and party stats.
How Does Save Data Transfer Work Between the Demo and Full Game?
Players who complete or start the Prologue Demo on the Nintendo Switch 2 digital store can seamlessly resume their journey on launch day.
Upon booting up the full retail edition or digital download of Metaphor: ReFantazio on or after November 12, 2026, the main menu will automatically detect existing demo save files stored on the console’s local storage. Selecting the import option loads all accumulated player stats, inventory items, unlocked Archetypes, and quest progression, letting players skip introductory tutorials and jump straight into the next narrative arc.
RPG fans can download the free demo today via the Nintendo eShop or pre-order the full game ahead of its November 12 debut on Nintendo Switch 2.
