What Is the Plot of Tenkaichi: The Greatest Warrior Under the Rising Sun?
The narrative of Tenkaichi: The Greatest Warrior Under the Rising Sun diverges entirely from actual history. Set in an alternate version of the year 1600, legendary warlord Oda Nobunaga has successfully unified all of Japan. Ten years after taking total control, Nobunaga realizes his life is coming to an end due to terminal illness.
Instead of choosing a traditional heir, Nobunaga makes a shocking announcement: he will hand over supreme ruler power to whichever general presents the absolute strongest warrior in the land. To settle the succession, sixteen powerful generals summon their ultimate martial artists to compete in a brutal, single-elimination battle tournament where death is fully encouraged. The opening fight pits the spear legend Tadakatsu Honda (sponsored by Tokugawa Ieyasu) against the rising sword prodigy Miyamoto Musashi (sponsored by Chosokabe Motochika).
