When Is the Tristia: Chronicles Release Date on Nintendo Switch?
Western players can get their hands on Tristia: Chronicles on September 17, 2026. The compilation was originally released digitally in Japan and Asia for the Nintendo Switch, and globally on the Steam platform, on January 19, 2023.
This 2026 release marks the very first time the collection is being localized and distributed physically in North American and European markets. The collection celebrates the twentieth anniversary of the iconic Deep-Blue series, which originally debuted on PC in Japan back in 2002 as Tristia of the Deep-Blue Sea.
What Games Are Included in Tristia: Chronicles?
The Switch compilation includes two fully updated games that showcase different gameplay styles based around the exact same narrative timeline:
- Tristia: Legacy: A modern, visual remastering of the original 2002 city-building simulator. You step into the shoes of Nanoca Flanka, a brilliant, young, blue-haired genius inventor sent to revive the coastal city of Tristia. The gorgeous coastal trade port, nicknamed the “Jewel of the Sea,” has fallen into ruin following devastating dragon attacks. Players must research new blueprints, gather materials, build advanced facilities, and stimulate the local economy to rebuild the metropolis in just one year.
- Tristia: Restore: A parallel story that swaps slow-paced management for high-energy shop action. Taking place at the same time as Legacy, this game tasks you with managing Nanoca’s daily workshop. As townsfolk flood the desk with requests, players must run around the shop, use processing equipment, and complete various minigames to craft and deliver orders on a strict countdown timer.
Who Is the Creative Team Behind the Tristia Series?
The development of the Tristia games is handled by Kogado Studio’s interior development teams, a group famous for niche visual novels, strategy games, and music games. The modernized releases feature updated, expressive character illustrations by acclaimed artist E-ji Komatsu, the original designer who defined the cozy, bright aesthetic of the series twenty years ago.
Additionally, the games features high-quality Japanese voice acting, with industry veteran Ayako Kawasumi, the voice behind Saber in the Fate series, reprising her classic role as the energetic heroine Nanoca Flanka.
