Publishing conglomerate Kadokawa officially announced during the Dengeki Bunko Autumn Festival Online event that a television anime adaptation of author Maware Isogawa’s hit light novel series, I Can’t Exploit It Because of the Expectations and Evaluation From Slaves (Dorei kara no Kitai to Hyōka no Sei de Sakushu Dekinai nodaga), is officially in production. The announcement debuted alongside a teaser visual showcasing the main protagonist, Allen, and his expanding commercial empire. Originally published under Kadokawa’s Dengeki no Shin Bungei imprint with illustrations by Heiro, this subverted fantasy comedy brings a fresh spin to the classic business management and accidental hero isekai subgenres.

The story follows Allen, a young man reincarnated into a parallel fantasy world who receives a cheat skill called Restoration from a deity. At first glance, his ability to instantly cure any disease, injury, or physical affliction seems too specialized for battlefield combat. Seeking a quiet, comfortable life funded by passive income, Allen devises a plan: he will purchase injured or sick enslaved girls for cheap, restore their health using his divine magic, and set up a relaxed workplace where he can profit off their labor while living in luxury.

However, his plans immediately backfire due to the sheer potency of his divine power. Once healed of their ailments, the girls become fiercely loyal to Allen and work with unmatched enthusiasm. Combining their newfound health with Allen’s modern business management knowledge, his small venture rapidly transforms into a thriving commercial powerhouse. Instead of living a lazy life of leisure, Allen finds himself overwhelmed by booming profits, explosive growth, and workers who view him as a benevolent saint rather than a self-serving master.

What Is the History Behind the Light Novel and Manga?

I Can’t Exploit It Because of the Expectations and Evaluation From Slaves originally began as a web novel written by Maware Isogawa on the Kakuyomu self-publishing portal between April 2022 and March 2023. Following massive reader popularity, Kadokawa acquired the publishing rights and launched the physical light novel edition under its Dengeki no Shin Bungei imprint in March 2023, featuring cover art and character designs by Heiro.

Following the success of the light novel releases, artist Sachi Nishioka launched a manga adaptation on Kadokawa’s Shōnen Ace Plus digital service in October 2023.
