Dark Phoenix Cyclops Strikes Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls as Season 1 DLC Debut
Phoenix Cyclops joins Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls on November 2, 2026! Discover his Dark Phoenix transform mechanic, lore, and classic X-Men costumes.
Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Arc System Works have officially revealed Phoenix Cyclops as the premier Season 1 DLC fighter for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Launching across PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam) on November 2, 2026, the corrupted X-Men leader headlines the game’s Year 1 Pass following an early hands-on tournament preview at EVO France 2026. Inspired directly by Marvel’s iconic Avengers vs. X-Men comic crossover, this empowered incarnation of Scott Summers trades purely heroic tactics for devastating Phoenix Force flame attacks.

Why Is Phoenix Cyclops a Season 1 DLC Fighter Instead of Base Roster?
According to game director Kazuto Sekine, the development team originally sought to include Cyclops in the base roster. However, Arc System Works wanted to challenge traditional roster design by adapting Scott Summers during his cosmic villain arc from Avengers vs. X-Men, where he absorbs the power of the Phoenix Force.
This narrative shift created an internal challenge for the game’s story mode. Because this villainous version of Cyclops stands in direct opposition to his mutant allies, he could not naturally lead the base game’s Unbreakable X-Men squad. As a result, Storm took over leadership of the X-Men team, while Arc System Works moved Phoenix Cyclops into a dedicated DLC slot to fully flesh out his dark abilities without compromising team story arcs.
How Does Phoenix Cyclops Play in Combat?
Arc System Works redesigned Scott Summers’ fighting style by combining classic Optic Blasts with expansive screen-controlling fire attacks:
- Full-Screen Optic Rage: His flagship Super attack fires a screen-filling beam of cosmic energy, allowing players to punish opponents or deal heavy chip damage from any position.
- Solar Shard Resource System: Striking opponents with standard Optic Blasts builds special Solar Shards.
- Dark Phoenix Transformation: Collecting four Solar Shards allows Cyclops to enter his dangerous Dark Phoenix state, granting massive damage increases at the cost of a gradual health drain.
What Alternate Costumes Are Included With Phoenix Cyclops?
Alongside his fiery Avengers vs. X-Men default appearance, Phoenix Cyclops launches with nostalgic legacy cosmetics. Players can equip his iconic 1990s blue-and-yellow suit, made famous by classic Capcom crossover fighting games, comic books, and the animated series X-Men ’97 streaming on Disney+.
Phoenix Cyclops opens the Year 1 Pass, which will also add Jane Foster’s Thor, Venom, and Jubilee throughout late 2026 and 2027.
