Sci-Fi Anime Sequel Expelled from Paradise: Resonance of the Heart Hits Theaters November 13, 2026

Aniplex and Toei Animation have unveiled a new promotional trailer and key visual for Expelled from Paradise: Resonance of the Heart (Rakuen Tsuihō: Kokoro no Resonance). The upcoming theatrical feature serves as the direct sequel to the acclaimed 2014 original sci-fi film Expelled from Paradise. Produced by Toei Animation with global distribution managed by Aniplex, the full-length 3DCGI feature film is scheduled to premiere in theaters on November 13, 2026.

What Is the Story of Expelled from Paradise and Its Sequel?

Set in the year 2700, the universe of Expelled from Paradise takes place long after a catastrophic catastrophe known as the Nanohazard destroyed physical civilization on Earth. In response, the vast majority of humanity abandoned their physical bodies to upload their minds into DEVA, a virtual reality space station orbiting the planet.

The original 2014 story follows Angela Balzac, an investigator for DEVA who downloads her mind into an organic body to descend to Earth’s surface for the first time. Equipped with the high-powered mechanical suit Ahan, she partners with a rogue surface investigator named Dingo to uncover the secrets behind a mysterious hacker. The sequel, Resonance of the Heart, expands on this world, bringing new cybernetic threats, expanded mecha battles, and deeper exploration of human consciousness.

Character designer Masatsugu Saitō (Xenoblade Chronicles, Cyborg 009 Call of Justice) reprises his role, with an original musical score composed by NARASAKI.
