Publisher Silver Lining Interactive and developer Kniv Studio have officially confirmed that their tactical strategy RPG, STARDUST: Wish of Witch, will launch for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 in the first quarter of 2027. Following its successful debut on PC via Steam, the single-player retro adventure will arrive on both current-gen consoles in digital and physical formats. Retail physical pre-orders are live via Silver Lining Direct, with physical copies bundling a copy of the official soundtrack composed by sound director Mitsukiyo.
What Is the Plot and World of STARDUST: Wish of Witch?
Designed as a modern homage to classic 16-bit tactical RPGs like Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem, STARDUST: Wish of Witch centers on a quest following the power of a wish-granting star.
The story follows a tomboyish warrior named Star and her childhood friend, the skilled mage Yu. Together, the duo sets out across a vibrant pixel art world to uncover forgotten star secrets. Along the way, players recruit companions with distinct combat abilities, personal backstories, and animated cutscene interactions that deepen party relationships.
How Do Tactical Battles and Progression Work in STARDUST: Wish of Witch?
Combat in STARDUST: Wish of Witch takes place on grid-based battlefields featuring detailed sprite animations and dynamic environmental effects:
- Grid-Based Combat: Players maneuver party members across terrain, leveraging elevation advantages, directional backstabs, and elemental synergies.
- Spell and Skill Customization: Yu and companion spellcasters can harness astronomical magic to alter battlefield tiles, clear barriers, or buff ally defenses.
- Post-Launch Story DLC: The upcoming console releases will include the free post-launch update Sword of Judgment built-in, introducing new post-game challenge quests and the playable swordswoman Anelin.
Tactical RPG enthusiasts can check out the game on Steam today or secure pre-orders for the physical PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 editions ahead of the Q1 2027 release window.
