Indie publishing powerhouses Devolver Digital and French development studio Deepnight Games have officially announced that martial arts brawler Tenjutsu will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam in 2027. Created by Sébastien Benard, the former lead designer behind Motion Twin’s hit action-roguelike Dead Cells, the fast-paced “rogue-jutsu” title places players in the martial-arts-driven combat boots of a renegade Yakuza defying her former crime family. Revealed during the autumn Nintendo presentation, the game combines fluid melee combat, urban restoration mechanics, and dynamic syndicate progression systems.

What Is the Story and Premise of Tenjutsu?
In Tenjutsu, players take control of a skilled renegade Yakuza warrior fighting to reclaim Secret Garden City from four tyrannical criminal syndicates that rule its streets.
Breaking away from her former syndicate associates, the protagonist uses martial arts mastery to dismantle each criminal faction district by district. The game introduces a high-stakes, order-of-conquest mechanic: players can choose which syndicate to assault first during each run, knowing that the remaining crime families will reinforce their defenses, mobilize extra troops, and become significantly harder to defeat as time passes.
What Are the Main Gameplay Features in Tenjutsu?
Building on Sébastien Benard’s expertise from designing Dead Cells, Tenjutsu introduces intense, tactical melee systems combined with city-building mechanics.
- Fluid Rogue-Jutsu Combat: Precision martial arts brawling allows players to chain light attacks, heavy counters, weapon strikes, and special jutsu techniques together to break through enemy block guards.
- Dynamic Target Paths: Players decide the sequence in which they challenge the four controlling syndicates, adjusting their strategy based on which boss abilities they want to eliminate early.
- Urban Rebuilding System: Defeating syndicate leaders unlocks permanent town improvements across Secret Garden City. Spending earned resources reconstructs local shops, opens health-restoring restaurants, and uncovers hidden traversal shortcuts for subsequent runs.
Action game fans can add Tenjutsu to their Steam Wishlist today and follow future development updates directly via the Deepnight Games Website.
